Dishnetwork - Cut My Monthly Fees by Half
Feeling pretty good. I know I'll have to go back and add a few things / features (got rid of HBO in the process) but am totally determined to try to get my intertainment expenses down.

Gratitude, the True Secret to Happiness?
Interesting. Saw this link on LinkedIn, clicked on it and started reading the article. Immediately I was about to tweet, when I thought - maybe I should add my thoughts first before I tweet this.
Our ability to be grateful seems to be a fundamental requirement to be being happy. But is it truly absolutely necessary?

What I Learned Today
I was listening to a morning talk show and it was there that they asked the question - "What did you learn today?" that made me think - I should start a blog with such a question. The basic idea is to dot down what I learn each day, preferably everyday. But as usual, I am already 3 days behind :(
Before I go any further, here's what I thought I had learned when I heard the question:

Oscar '05
No, Sideways didn't win the Best Picture award :o( I didn't really believe it had a real shot, even a long shot, at winning. But the fact that it WAS nominated had sparked the tiniest of hope in me that maybe, just maybe, an Indy Film would win the coveted Academy Award.
But instead, Clint Eastwood's Million Dollar Baby won it..

Facebook Acquires instagram for a Billion Dollar
First off, congrats to the "instagram" team. I have been using the app on my iPhone since October '11. As a matter of fact, instagram was one of the reasons I have been wanting to update / upgrade to the new iPhone 4S.
But I have to admit that this is causing me to pause and think. They have developed this app, this most awesome app with about a dozen employees in about a year and a half and has $0 in revenue - all of a sudden they are valued at $1B.

End Piracy, Not Liberty
To imagine that anyone would support "Piracy" is quite outrageous. But where exactly is the line to be drawn - that is even more interesting.
Long before the internet came into play people have "copied" copy righted materials to share with their friends. Sure it was illegal to do so back then (as it is today), but for some reason it
